  • 🇺🇞 A Wonderful Family from New Mexico 😊 A wonderful family from New Mexico stayed with us—a mother and her college-aged son and daughter. 📖 Her son is majoring in Japanese Literature and is currently studying abroad at Kanda University of International Studies in Japan. 🇯🇵 He’s also a huge fan of Yukio Mishima! 😆👍 Her daughter is studying Astronomy at a university in Boston. 🌌✚ What surprised me most was learning that Roswell, famous for its UFO stories, is only a 2–3 hour drive from their hometown! 🛞👜 So, I showed them a mysterious video that I filmed in our garden on December 14, 2023

  • Join us on July 19 for Hakone’s local Tenno Festival! 🎐 Every July, our local community comes together to celebrate the Tenno Festival, one of Hakone’s beloved summer traditions. Enjoy the sacred Yudate Lion Dance, watch the mikoshi (portable shrine) parade through town, and experience prayers for protection from disease, good health, and a peaceful year. The festival takes place from 7:30 AM to 8:50 PM, ending with the exciting mochi-maki (rice cake throwing), where everyone is welcome to join the fun! While traveling through Switzerland, we unexpectedly found a Hakone Tozan Railway train at Chur Station.‌🀩 Hakone Tozan Railway and Switzerland’s Rhaetian Railway have been sister railways since 1979.🇚🇭🀝🇯🇵 We were lucky enough to ride this special Hakone-wrapped train on our way to Andermatt—and even got to visit the driver’s cab! 🚞🀩👍 Along the Bernina Line, we also found a commemorative plaque donated by Hakone Tozan Railway. The friendship goes both ways. Two of them celebrated their birthdays during their stay, so we prepared a little surprise for them. 🀩🎂🎉 They enjoyed our private onsen, origami, kendo, kendama, and even the beautiful hydrangeas, which are now in full bloom. ♚💜 A lovely family from the UK and a wonderful lady from Australia also left us heartwarming messages, so we’d love to share them with you.   • 🇩🇪 Reunited in Munich & Lucerne! 🇚🇭🍻⚜ We had the pleasure of meeting again with a wonderful couple from Munich who stayed at our guesthouse in May 2025. Together, we enjoyed the FIFA World Cup public viewing of Germany vs. Paraguay at a traditional Munich brewery, cheering with cold beers in hand! 🍺 Although both Germany and Japan were unfortunately knocked out😭, it became a memory we’ll cherish forever.😊👍 Nancy & David, thank you so much for such a wonderful evening!😆🍻⚜ And in Lucerne, Switzerland, our friend Dirk came all the way to see us and brought us wonderful Swiss souvenirs! 🇚🇭 We were truly touched.   • 【A Reunion with Our Swiss Guest in Switzerland 🇚🇭😆】 Since June 22, owners Masami and Ted have been traveling in Switzerland via Munich, Germany, for a study trip. One of our Swiss guests, who stayed with us in February 2026, kindly came all the way from Zurich to St. Gallen to meet us 😊 Although we only had about two hours together, we were able to enjoy lunch and talk a lot. It was such a truly happy and memorable moment for us 😆👍 This time, we are joining a guided group tour to learn more about tourism in Switzerland, one of the world’s leading travel destinations and a country that has a deep connection with Hakone.🚞🗻 Since the tour mainly focuses on the Alpine areas, the schedule is very tight and we have almost no free time. Because of that, we were unfortunately unable to reunite with several other guests, which was truly disappointing 😭 But next time, we would love to visit Switzerland and Germany again on a private trip, with more time to relax. Join us on July 19 for Hakone’s local Tenno Festival! 🎐 Every July, our local community comes together to celebrate the Tenno Festival, one of Hakone’s beloved summer traditions. Enjoy the sacred Yudate Lion Dance, watch the mikoshi (portable shrine) parade through town, and experience prayers for protection from disease, good health, and a peaceful year. The festival takes place from 7:30 AM to 8:50 PM, ending with the exciting mochi-maki (rice cake throwing), where everyone is welcome to join the fun! We’d love to welcome you to celebrate this special local tradition with us on July 19. While traveling through Switzerland, we unexpectedly found a Hakone Tozan Railway train at Chur Station.‌🀩 Hakone Tozan Railway and Switzerland’s Rhaetian Railway have been sister railways since 1979.🇚🇭🀝🇯🇵 We were lucky enough to ride this special Hakone-wrapped train on our way to Andermatt—and even got to visit the driver’s cab! 🚞🀩👍 Along the Bernina Line, we also found a commemorative plaque donated by Hakone Tozan Railway. The friendship goes both ways. 【A Reunion with Our Swiss Guest in Switzerland 🇚🇭😆】 Since June 22, owners Masami and Ted have been traveling in Switzerland via Munich, Germany, for a study trip. One of our Swiss guests, who stayed with us in February 2026, kindly came all the way from Zurich to St. Gallen to meet us 😊 Although we only had about two hours together, we were able to enjoy lunch and talk a lot. It was such a truly happy and memorable moment for us 😆👍 This time, we are joining a guided group tour to learn more about tourism in Switzerland, one of the world’s leading travel destinations and a country that has a deep connection with Hakone.🚞🗻 Since the tour mainly focuses on the Alpine areas, the schedule is very tight and we have almost no free time. Because of that, we were unfortunately unable to reunite with several other guests, which was truly disappointing 😭 But next time, we would love to visit Switzerland and Germany again on a private trip, with more time to relax. 【A Reunion with Our Swiss Guest in Switzerland 🇚🇭😆】 Since June 22, owners Masami and Ted have been traveling in Switzerland via Munich, Germany, for a study trip. One of our Swiss guests, who stayed with us in February 2026, kindly came all the way from Zurich to St. Gallen to meet us 😊 Although we only had about two hours together, we were able to enjoy lunch and talk a lot. It was such a truly happy and memorable moment for us 😆👍 This time, we are joining a guided group tour to learn more about tourism in Switzerland, one of the world’s leading travel destinations and a country that has a deep connection with Hakone.🚞🗻 Since the tour mainly focuses on the Alpine areas, the schedule is very tight and we have almost no free time. Because of that, we were unfortunately unable to reunite with several other guests, which was truly disappointing 😭 But next time, we would love to visit Switzerland and Germany again on a private trip, with more time to relax. This Guest House is a great place to meet fellow travelers from around the world.

Our staff speak English and is ready for any assistance or advice to make your stay with us as enjoyable as possible. We are centrally located the resort town of Sengokuhara in Hakone National Park. Restaurants, hiking trails, museums, convenient stores, and beautiful mountain trails are all within walking distance.

English map of Hakone National Park and our neighborhood is available. In addition, we have a natural hot spring bath that contains eighteen different kinds of minerals. Our hot spring bath is an excellent way to relieve tension and improve your health.

At our Guest House you can also enjoy Japanese bathing in your own private bath (lock the door from inside)–a truly Japanese experience.
