A very special reunion in Hakone 😄🇯🇵 Mr. Okuma, a former senior colleague from Ted’s JTB days, returned with his longtime friends from Australia, Michael & Sandy, for a 2-night stay. As it was Michael & Sandy’s birthday last week, we celebrated together 🎂 They also enjoyed bamboo shoot digging and Kendama — a true local experience.😆👍 Over the years, Mr. Okuma has brought many wonderful guests to our guesthouse and created meaningful connections. One of those was through the “People to People Ambassador Program,” through which we welcomed thousands of students from the United States. The program was founded by Dwight D. Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States, and at the time was led by his granddaughter, Mary Jean Eisenhower. Fire⁉️😨 No — this is the annual grass burning at Sengokuhara, Hakone.😊👍 This tradition prevents forest overgrowth, clears old reeds, and allows fresh, healthy pampas grass to grow.These flames create the golden fields you’ll see in autumn. Usually held in March, it was delayed this year due to weather.But thanks to that, we witnessed cherry blossoms and fire at the same time 🌸🔥 Our open-air bath cherry tree is now in full bloom.Experience this moment with us. 火事⁉️ いいえ、箱根・仙石原すすき草原の山焼きです。 山焼きは、森林化を防ぎ、古いススキを焼き払い、良質な新芽を育てるために行われています。 この🔥が、秋の黄金色の絶景をつくるのです✌️ 例年は3月中に実施されますが、天候に恵まれず何度も延期に。でもそのおかげで、満開の桜と山焼きを同時に楽しむことができました🌸🔥 うちの露天風呂の枝垂れ桜も満開です🌸 春は桜、秋はすすき草原の絶景をぜひ観にいらしてください。 #仙石原すすき草原 #山焼き #hakone #japantravel #hiddenjapan
